The Nakaya Islands are a small group of islands off the Loubet coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . They are 16 km southeast of Cape Rey in Crystal Sound .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out from 1958 to 1959 was used to map it. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the group in 1960 after the Japanese physicist Ukichiro Nakaya (1900–1962), who had studied the structure and properties of ice and snow crystals.
