Namba Yasaka Shrine ( Japanese 難 波 八 阪神 社 , -jinja ) is a Shinto shrine in Motomachi, Naniwa-ku , Osaka .
history
There are no exact records of when the shrine was first built. He is mentioned by name for the first time in records from 1069. As a result of the air raids on Osaka , the shrine burned down completely in 1945. The current shape of the temple was completed in May 1974.

In the central square of the temple complex there is a stone image of a lion's head, 12 meters high, 11 meters wide, 10 meters deep, with a stage in its mouth.
Every third Sunday in January there is a tug of war ritual based on Japanese mythology . It is based on the story of Susanoo , the god of the wind and the sea. After his banishment from heaven, he descended and slew the many-headed dragon Yamata no Orochi . In 2001, this ritual was officially accepted as an Intangible Cultural Property of Osaka City.
