Namsan ( 남산 , 南山 , South Mountain ) is a 494 meter high peak in Gyeongju National Park , a little south of the city of Gyeongju , the ancient capital of the Silla Empire in southeastern South Korea . It is a popular destination. The Namsan is part of the Gyeongju World Heritage Site .
The Namsan is home to many relics of the Silla period . There are some of the royal tombs as well as important examples of Buddhist art: approx. 80 stone reliefs, 60 stone pagodas and numerous temples from the time between 700 and 1000 AD.
