Nanoclavelia is a species of wasps (Pompilidae). Only one species occurs in Europe, Nanoclavelia leucoptera (Dahlbom, 1843).

features

The species of the genus Nanoclavelia are small wasps . Your head and thorax are finely structured, the fron is convex. The convex face plate ( clypeus ) is short and wide. Their apical edge is either concave or straight. The labrum has a concave edge and is partially covered by the faceplate. The antennae are short and cylindrical. The mandibles have an additional tooth. The metapostnotum is shorter than the metanotum . The propodeum is increasingly curved backwards, shiny, but with fine white flowers. The wings are clear, the forewings have a large pterostigma . The third submarginal cell is usually smaller than the second. The front, mostly first three terga are red, all terga are sparsely structured in point form. The tarsi of the front legs have very short tarsal crests in the females. The claws of the front legs have very small teeth.

Way of life

The wasps colonize open habitats. They hunt spiders of the Theridiidae family .
