Nanuk  (original title: La Grande Chasse de Nanook) is a French animated series that was produced between 1996 and 1997 .

action

The 12-year-old Eskimo boy Nanuk never got to know his father. Shortly before Nanuk was born, he tried to kill the bear Suaq Nanuk and did not return home. Now Nanuk tries to take revenge on the animal and goes on an arduous journey through the arctic ice landscape. You learn a lot about fear, deprivation and discouragement and what it takes to become a strong man. On the other hand, he also learns to value friendships and to believe in himself and has many adventures.

Origin of name

Nanuk  is used on the one hand as a male  first name for the adolescent boy. On the other hand, it is also a word from the Eskimos language and means polar bear. Inuit mythology says that Nanuk is the master of bears. He alone made the difference between success or failure in a bear hunt.

Production and publication

The series was produced in France between 1996 and 1997. This resulted in 26 episodes. The German premiere took place on January 7, 2001 on Super RTL .
