Nappo

The Nappo-Dr. Helle & Co. GmbH & Co. KG was a confectionery manufacturer founded in 1920 with 150 employees (as of 2006) in Krefeld . The most important product since 1925 has been Nappo , Dutch nougat with a chocolate coating in a typical diamond shape and packaging made of red, blue or green printed aluminum foil, which has hardly changed to this day.

The company has also been producing ice cream confectionery since 1936 . The company also made granola bars for Aldi and Kellogg's .

In 1994, Nappo KG took over the Hamburg confectionery manufacturer Moritz, which was until then the largest German producer of ice confectionery.

On April 28, 2006, the bankruptcy proceedings against Nappo-Dr. Bright company opened and announced that it would close on December 31, 2006. Nappo-Dr. Helle made the headlines when she wanted to temporarily introduce a 60-hour week without paying overtime bonuses. However, this was done in consultation with the workforce.

All previous products from the Krefeld sweets manufacturer were taken over by WAWI Schokolade AG on January 1, 2007 and are sold through the subsidiary WAWI-Euro GmbH .
