N. Ramachandran ( Narayana Ramachandran ) is an Indian sports official . He is the current President of the Indian Olympic Committee . From 2008 to 2016 he was also President of the World Squash Federation .

Life

Ramachandran's family operates The India Cements Ltd. one of the leading cement manufacturers in South India. Until he started working as a sports official, he held a leading position in the company. He had also been President of the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).

His first activity as a sports official he took up as President of the Indian Triathlon Association, with which he tried to spread the sport in India. At the same time he worked as General Secretary of the Indian Squash Federation and was elected President of the Asian Squash Federation in 2001. After he was confirmed in office in 2005, he gave up in 2008 when he was elected President of the World Federation WSF, succeeding Jahangir Khan .

Ramachandran held various offices at the Indian Olympic Committee and was elected President in 2014. In November 2016 he was replaced at the head of the World Squash Federation.
