The Nardi Bisiluro , also known as Nardi Le Mans , was a sports car prototype that was developed by Automobili Nardi in 1955 .

Technology and racing history

In 1955, the Bisiluro was a 0.7-liter racing car built according to a completely new concept, which was used as the successor to the 750LM in the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1955 .

The little car was shaped like a trimaran , lacking the right float. In the unconventional design, the engine was in the smaller, left-hand part of the car. A 735 cm³ Giannini unit was installed horizontally and horizontally. In the larger right part of the car were the cockpit and the tank.

In Le Mans the car was driven by Mario Damonte and Roger Crovetto . The car was extremely unstable on the racetrack. The vehicle could tip over in a light cross wind. In the race, the car had an accident after just five laps. Damonte came into the lapping traffic of the top vehicles. As a result of the suction created by the much faster 3-liter cars, the Bisiluro was raised and overturned. However, the speed of the racing car was so slow that the Nardi was only slightly damaged and the driver was uninjured.

Nardi did not pursue the concept any further and the Bisiluro was no longer used.
