Naria, statuette from Muri near Bern (CIL XIII: 5161)

Naria is a Helvetic goddess who was worshiped in the sanctuary of Muri near Bern during Roman times . A statuette of the bear goddess Artio comes from the same sanctuary . An inscription from Cressier calls her Naria Nousantia (CIL XIII: 5151), whereby the second name can be interpreted as Celtic * Nausantia "ship goddess" if it can be put to the Gallic gloss nausum "ship", which is with Ausonius .
