National self-defense

National self-defense (German for Narodna Samooborona ) was a political movement or party in Ukraine . It was founded in December 2006 by Yuriy Lutsenko .
Lutsenko was initially a member of the Socialist Party of Ukraine (SPU), which, together with the Our Ukraine party and the Yulia Tymoshenko bloc, fought against attempts at forgery in the 2004 presidential elections in Ukraine . Lutsenko was Minister of the Interior in the Yulia Tymoshenko government after the so-called "Orange Revolution". When his party switched fronts and formed a government with the Party of the Regions of Viktor Yanukovych , Lutsenko left the SPU and founded Narodna Samooborona.
In the 2007 parliamentary elections , the National Self-Defense, together with the Our Ukraine party of President Yushchenko and other parties, entered the election block Our Ukraine - National Self-Defense . The member parties of this electoral alliance have undertaken to unite into one party after the elections.
