Narp (Utarp)

Narp is a district of the municipality Utarp , one of eight member municipalities of the integrated municipality Holtriem in the district of Wittmund in Lower Saxony .

The place name probably goes back to the old Frisian word Ni-therp for Neudorf. The place Nyarp is mentioned for the first time in 1447 . The name Neudorp has been handed down from 1589 ; in 1599 it was called Nyerp . The current spelling has been used since 1684. The place grew rapidly in the 19th century. In 1823 the place only had 38 residents, who were spread over ten fire pits . In 1848 there were 111 residents who lived in 19 residential buildings.
