The Narval Bay is a 2.5 km wide bay on the south coast of South Georgia . It is located on the north side of the ice fjord .
The Scottish geologist David Ferguson named it during his visit to South Georgia (1912-1913) as North Bay (English for North Bay ). Since the North Bay , a side bay of Prince Olav Harbor , was already so named, the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee decided in 1957 to rename it. The new name giver is the 1929 built whaler Narval , which was owned by the Compañía Argentina de Pesca in 1934 .
