Nasal irons

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nose iron (also nasal , nose piece , nose guard or nasal shield ) is a protective device on military helmets to protect the face. The device was common on many helmets of antiquity and the Middle Ages . The nasal helmet prevalent in Europe in the 11th and 12th centuries owes its name to the nasal iron. Depending on the characteristics, a distinction is made between fixed, removable and adjustable nose irons.
