Nasir al-Muhammad al-Ahmad al-Jabir as-Sabah ( Arabic ناصر المحمد الأحمد الصباح, DMG Nāṣir al-Muḥammad al-Aḥmad aṣ-Ṣabāḥ ; * December 22, 1940 in Kuwait City ) was the Prime Minister of Kuwait from 2006 to 2011 . He is a nephew of Emir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah .

Life

Nasir studied political science and economics at the University of Geneva ( Switzerland ). Before becoming Prime Minister, he was Ambassador to Iran and Afghanistan , Minister of Information, Minister of Social Affairs and Employment, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Royal Court.

He was appointed on February 7, 2006 by Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah.

On November 16, 2011 , a demonstration against Nasir took place in Kuwait City , led by MP Mussalam al-Barrack . He has been accused of not doing anything about corruption in Kuwait. Afterwards some penetrated the parliament, but withdrew after singing the national anthem. The attempt to move to Nasir's residence was prevented by the police using baton.
