The National Aerospace Laboratory Ruimtevaartlaboratorium ( NLR ; English National Aerospace Laboratory , German  National Aerospace Laboratory ) is designated, in the field of air and space travel the greatest testing, research and training facility in the Netherlands . Departments

The NLR is divided into three departments with different focus areas.

Space systems

The area of ​​space systems ( English Aerospace Systems ) deals with the research of new materials, components and systems for space travel, with a focus on military space travel.

Air transport

The field of air transport ( english Air Transport ), deals with all matters such as the design of airports and air safety. This department also deals with the training of ground and flight personnel and operates various simulation facilities. In addition to flight simulators, there is also the simulation of a large airport.

Spacecraft

The area of ​​space vehicles ( English Aerospace Vehicles ) deals not only with space vehicles but also with the area of ​​aircraft. Questions about the design of aircraft and various test and inspection facilities are in the foreground. In the area of ​​the certification procedures for aircraft for civil use, there is close cooperation with authorities such as the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
