National Confederation of Eritrean Workers

The National Confederation of Eritrean Workers (English: National Confederation of Eritrean Workers NCEW ) is a national trade union alliance in Eritrea , located in the capital Asmara .

history

It serves as a unified trade union (officially "umbrella organization") and was founded in November 1979 in the province of Eritrea , when Eritrea was still part of Ethiopia. The original name was National Union of Eritrean Workers . The NCEW has 25,000 members and is associated with the International Trade Union Confederation . A new main building has been under construction since 2010 and is due to be completed in June 2011.
