The National Museum of Folk Art of Huzulien and Pokuttya named after J. Kobrynskyj ( Ukrainian Національний музей народного мистецтва Гуцульщини та Покуття імені Й. Кобринського Nazionalnyj musej narodnoho mysteztwa Huzulschtschyny ta Pokuttja imeni J. Kobrynskoho ) is a folklore museum in the Ukrainian city of Kolomyia , in the Folk Art of the Hutsuls Pokutiens are exhibited.
The after Jossafat Kobrynskyj ( Йосафат Миколайович Кобринський ; 1818 to 1901) Greek Catholic, a Ukrainian priest, publicists, philanthropists and political and cultural activist named museum in 1926 at the initiative of the art historian and ethnographer Volodymyr Kobrynskyj ( Володимир Васильович Кобринський , 1873-1958) founded and promoted to the National Museum in 2009 .
The museum is located in the former People's House in downtown Kolomyja, a town in the western Ukrainian Oblast Ivano-Frankivsk , and has collections with a total of around 50,000 exhibits of traditional folk art of the Hutsuls and Pokutiens from the 17th century to the present day, which can be seen by visitors in 18 exhibition halls are presented. The museum has its own restoration workshops where conservation and restoration work is carried out.
Based on the museum's collection of Easter eggs, the Museum of Easter Painting ( Музей писанкового розпису ⊙ ), a branch of the National Museum, was opened in the city in 1987 .
