Native Deen is an Islamic music band from the USA.

Group members

The group consists of Joshua Salaam, Naeem Muhammad and Abdul-Malik Ahmad. All were born and raised in the United States.

Background of their music

"Deen" is translated from Arabic and means "religion" or "way of life". The members of Native Deen are Muslims and also wear traditional Kufis and salwar kameez . The group says: "It's more than just finding the way ... you have to live it after you've used it."

The group mainly uses drums and percussion instruments, as many Muslims believe that wind instruments are prohibited.

The three artists became known through MYNA (Muslim Youth of North America). Text submitted by the three musicians was used for the album MYNA RAP, and only then was it decided on the name Native Deen.

Her albums appear under the label "Mountain of Light" ("Mountain of Light"), which was founded by Yusuf Islam ( Cat Stevens ).
