Itzequelle nature experience area
The Itzequelle nature experience area ( NER Itzequelle ) is one of two nature experience areas in the Steinburg district , Schleswig-Holstein .
The natural experience area is an area of around four hectares, three quarters of which is owned by the city of Itzehoe and a quarter is owned by the Itzehoe monastery . It was officially recognized by the State of Schleswig-Holstein in 2002 and is the second nature experience area in the Steinburg district after the Rensinger See nature experience area in Kellinghusen, which was recognized in 1997 . It was named after the unofficial name Itze for the mill stream, which flows off in the border area of the nature experience area on the west side of the meadow along the edge of the forest. A pond through which the stream flows was also created in the area. The kingfisher is native there , and the area also offers good living conditions for the green woodpecker .
