The Natural Park of Monte Fenera (Italian Parco Naturale del Monte Fenera ) is a nature park of 725.98 hectares on the hills of the lower Valsesia around Monte Fenera (899 m above sea level) in Piedmont in northwest Italy .

history

The nature park was founded in 1987. An “Site of Community Importance” Monte Fenera (IT1120003) has also been set up. In the area of ​​the Parco naturale, remains of the Neanderthal man , the Moustérian culture (middle Paleolithic ) and the cave bear have been found. The karstification has created various caves in which these finds were made. There are currently around 30 endemic plant species here.

Monte Fenera is located in the Bassa Valsesia valley near the cities of Novara and Vercelli. The surrounding valley is characterized by wide rice fields. The nature park itself is an ideal starting point for excursions to the Monte Rosa mountain range or to the nearby Lago Maggiore and Lago d'Orta .
