The 24 km² El Cóndor nature reserve is located in the Cordillera del Cóndor in Ecuador and borders the Santiago Comaina reserve in Peru . It is a so-called Peace Park .
history
Because of unclear border regulations, the Peruvian-Ecuadorian war broke out in the Cordillera del Cóndor. The skirmishes were resolved with the establishment of a Peace Park after Argentina , Brazil , Chile and the United States intervened. A peace treaty was signed that is linked to the establishment and connection of two cross-border nature reserves, the El Cóndor nature reserve in Ecuador and the Santiago-Comaina Reserved Area in Peru.
Flora and fauna
The area is a rain forest, where many endemic plants grow and animals such as the Golden-fronted spider monkey , the spot on the chest sailors ( Cypseloides lemosi ), parakeets and the Andean condor living.
