Natural fibers are fibers of vegetable or animal origin. The natural fibers are either untreated or, in the case of chemical treatment or refinement, based on the criteria of the lowest level of the Naturtextil IVN guidelines certified by the International Association of the Natural Textile Industry (IVN) or the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). In any case, the permeability of the fiber must be preserved and the equipment must not have any barrier to skin contact (climate and moisture balance).

Frequently used natural fibers are cotton from controlled organic cultivation (kbA) and merino virgin wool from controlled organic animal husbandry (kbT). These raw materials are also used with other natural fibers, such as B. spun mulberry silk.
