Navigator Dzinkambani

Navigator Dzinkambani (born January 7, 1974 - August 31, 2006 ) was a Malawian football player .

Athletic career

Dzinkambani played with the Big Bullets Blantyre in his home country Malawi. The goalkeeper was also active in the Malawian national team for many years . With this he took part in the COSAFA Cup several times , including the first edition in 1997 , in which the national team finished last in the table. In the following editions he was in the newly created qualification games between the posts, but did not succeed in participating in the finals again. Later he fought with Swadic Sanudi for the place in the goal of the national team, but in the - ultimately missed - qualification for the 2002 World Cup finals , he played most of the games. He was also a regular in autumn 2002 when the national team reached the finals in the 2002 COSAFA Cup . Both games against South Africa were lost, however, with Phillip Nyasulu guarding the goal in the second leg .

Dzinkambani died in the summer of 2006 at the age of 32 as a result of an HIV infection.
