The Navy Occupation Service Medal was a military decoration of the US armed forces . The first award took place in the introductory year 1946. The order was to members of the armed services US Navy , US Marines and the US Coast Guard awarded after the Second World War have served at least 90 days in the occupied parts of Europe and Asia. The medal includes two different bands on which the respective location Europe or Asia is noted. The award of the Navy Occupation Service Medal ended with German reunification on October 3, 1990.

Band support Berlin blockade

A special tier with the clasp of a small airplane was awarded during the Berlin blockade .

This military award was given in the following regions and time periods:

  • Italy (November 8, 1945 to December 15, 1947)
  • Trieste (May 8, 1945 to October 25, 1954)
  • Germany (May 8, 1945 to May 5, 1955)
  • Austria (May 8, 1945 to October 25, 1955)
  • West Berlin (May 8, 1945 to October 3, 1990)
  • Pacific (September 2, 1947 to April 27, 1952)

Soldiers who served in the Korean War were also awarded the award, but not to those who received the Korean Service Medal .

The US Army and US Air Force equivalent was the Army of Occupation Medal .
