Nawapur is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra .
The city is part of the Nandurbar district . Nawapur has the status of a small town ( Nagar panchayat ). The city is divided into 18 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census, it had a total of 34,207 inhabitants, of which 17,487 were men and 16,720 women. Hindus form the largest group of the city's population with a share of over 68%, followed by Muslims with over 29%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 86.08%, well above the national average.
