Nazım Ekren

Nazım Ekren (born December 4, 1956 in İstanbul ) is a Turkish politician of the AKP.

Life

He graduated from the İTİA Faculty of Economics in Bursa . He wrote his doctoral thesis on international banking at the Institute of Social Sciences at Uludağ University. Ekren received the lecturer title for economic theory and the professor title for applied economics at the Marmara University . He worked in the administration of the same university. Ekren has taught at Marmara University and other state and foundation universities.

Nazım Ekren was a founding member of Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AKP) in 2001 and a member of the İstanbul Province in the 22nd legislative period ( October 14, 2002 - July 22, 2007 ) of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey .

From August 29, 2007 Ekren was a member of the Second Erdoğan Cabinet of the AKP government under Erdoğan as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State. He was responsible for general coordination in economic issues and the Administrative Court ( Danıştay ). He was responsible for the State Secretariat for Customs, the General Directorate for Foundations, the General Directorate for Social Aid and Solidarity and the Secretariat of the Advertising Fund Committee.

Nazım Ekren managed:

  • the State Secretariat for the State Planning Organization ( DPT )
  • the Presidium of the Turkish Statistics Institute ( TÜİK )
  • the Southeast Anatolia Project ( GAP )

Nazım Ekren was in charge of relations with

  • the General Directorate of the State Ziraat Bank ( TC Ziraat Bankası )
  • the General Directorate of the Turkish State People's Bank ( Türkiye Halk Bankası A.Ş. )
  • the General Directorate of the Turkish State Recovery Bank ( Türkiye Kalkınma Bankası A.Ş. )
  • the Committee for the Capital Market ( SPK )
  • the Office for Regulation and Supervision of the Banking System ( BDDK )
  • the Insurance Fund for Savings Deposits ( TMSF )

Nazım Ekren left the government during the cabinet revision in May 2009.
