Nazir Ahmed, Baron Ahmed
Nazir Ahmed, Baron Ahmed (born April 24, 1958 in Mirpur , Asad Kashmir , Pakistan ) is a British politician (formerly Labor ) and a member of the House of Lords .
Life
Ahmed was born in Pakistan in 1958; his parents immigrated to the UK with him when he was 11. Ahmed grew up in Rotherham , where he still lives today.
He joined the Labor Party at the age of 18. He worked as the manager of a shop and a gas station. In 1990 he began his political career as a councilor . On August 3, 1998, at the suggestion of then Prime Minister Tony Blair, he was appointed as a life peer in the House of Lords and received the title of nobility Baron Ahmed , of Rotherham in the County of South Yorkshire. He was one of the first Muslims to receive a British title of nobility.
There he organized a book presentation for the anti-Semite Israel Shamir in 2005 . After making his own anti-Semitic remarks, Baron Ahmed lost the support of his party and precluded a hearing by resigning.
He is married and has three children.
