Neşet Erol

Neşet Erol (* 1946 in Turkey ) is a Turkish-born children's book author , playwright and literary translator, primarily of his own works.

Life

Erol is a pedagogical employee at the regional office for the promotion of children and young people from immigrant families (RAA) in the city of Oberhausen . As such, he is committed to B. in the area of reading promotion and also reads from his numerous children's books in schools.

The author publishes his works for children and young people in Germany exclusively in bilingual editions (Turkish - German), for which he does the translations himself. In his stories, he prepares challenging topics such as xenophobia in Die freundliche Drachenfamilie (2005) or fish death in Perlwasser (2002) for young readers.

Erol has also published literary translations of stories by the famous Turkish author Fakir Baykurt .

The children's book author's literary career began at the end of the 1980s as a playwright: the play Dönüs - The Return (1989) and his "Scenes from a Stay" Rosen und Dornen (1988) also appeared in print. The return has become an integral part of the program of the Turkish cultural ensemble Diyalog , which has been organizing the Diyalog TheaterFest since 1995 , in a revision by Hayati Boyacioglu .
