Nebojša Vučinić

Nebojša Vučinić (born October 17, 1953 in Cetinje , Yugoslavia ) is a Montenegrin lawyer and former judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

Vučinić studied law and graduated from the University of Titograd in 1976 . In 1980 he obtained a Masters in International Public Law from the University of Belgrade . There he did his doctorate in international public law and the law of international relations to the Dr. iur. In 1980/81 he worked as a criminal defense lawyer at the Military Court of First Instance in Belgrade during his military service. After graduating, he worked at the University of Montenegro as a research assistant, later as an assistant professor and finally as a full professor of international law, human rights and environmental law. Since 2000 he has headed the university as its director. He has also written numerous works on international law that have found their way into teaching in Montenegro.

In 2008 he was elected as the first representative of Montenegro as judge at the European Court of Human Rights . His term ended in 2018; his successor was Ivana Jelić .
