The Neckartal Dam ( English Neckartal Dam ; project name) is an arched weight wall in Namibia . It dams the fish river and since its completion it is the largest dam and the largest potential lake in Namibia . The dam is 40 kilometers west of the town of Keetmanshoop and a few kilometers north of the town of Seeheim .

The dammed water is to be used for irrigation field management on more than 5000 hectares . Initially, 1900 hectares are to be irrigated as part of a public-private partnership . Dates, table grapes, corn, alfalfa and vegetables are intended for cultivation.

Construction started in January 2014. The construction costs of the dam amounted to 5.7 billion Namibian dollars .

A first tender from April 2011 was canceled during the evaluation process in January 2012. The Anti-Corruption Commission was brought in.

The tender was then published again at the end of November 2012 and the final award of the construction contract took place in mid-2013. The construction costs were given in October 2017 at 5.7 billion Namibia dollars.

Completion was planned for 2013, as construction did not begin until 2014 and was not completed until October 18, 2018. The inauguration took place on March 13, 2020.
