Nederlandse Moslim Partij
The Nederlandse Moslim Partij ( NMP for short ; German Dutch Muslim Party ) was a small Dutch party led by Henny Kreeft . The party wants to counteract unjustified attacks against Islam and Muslims, furthermore it wants to reduce the gap between Muslims and non-Muslims and stands for a society that is shaped by Islamic values and norms. It was founded in 2007 and dissolved in 2012.
history
The NMP was founded in 2007 by two Dutch Muslims from Enschede . As a party leader, Kreeft converted to Islam in the 1990s and, through the NMP, wanted to close the gap between Muslims and non-Muslims as a young man. Before that he joined the right-wing populist party LPF ( Lijst Pim Fortuyn ) in the early 2000s and in 2006 also participated in the local ONS ( Onze Nieuwe Samenleving - Our New Society) Noordoostpolder party in the Noordoostpolder municipality . In January 2009 he came back as an independent Kreeft faction in the local council to take the seat of his former party comrade Van de Belt.
On November 18, 2009, the NMP took part in early municipal council elections in the Venlo municipality. The fact that the Islam critic Geert Wilders comes from this place was seen as "additional motivation". The 0.5 percent of the vote achieved by the party, however, was not enough for a place on the local council.
In the Dutch local elections in March 2010, the party took part in Almere, Alkmaar, Rotterdam, The Hague, Woerden, Tilburg and Noordoostpolder. She could not get a seat in any of these parishes. In February 2010, party leader Kreeft announced that he would also like to take part in the 2010 parliamentary elections . On April 22, 2010, however, Kreeft said that the NMP would not take part in the parliamentary elections because of the short preparation time and lack of financial resources.
