Negishi Tanka Community

The Negishi Tanka community ( Japanese 根 岸 短歌 会 , Negishi Tankakai ) met in the 30s of the Meiji period (more precisely 1899, in the year 32 after Meiji) in the house of Masaoka Shikis with the same as the central figure. The name comes from the fact that Shiki's house, which he called Shiki-an ( 子規 庵 , dt. "Shiki hut"), was then located in the municipality of Kaminegishi in the former Tokyo district of Shitaya .

Members of the community included Oka Fumoto , Katori Hozuma , Itō Sachio and Nagatsuka Takashi . Descriptions of nature and poems / tanka in the style of Man'yōshū were treated .

After Shiki's death in 1902, the community's Ashibi magazine was published, followed by the Araragi magazine, with Itō Sachio now playing the central role.
