Araragi
Araragi ( Japanese ア ラ ラ ギ , eng. "Eibenbaum") was the title of a Japanese Tanka magazine. This was the successor to the two magazines Ashibi and Akane , which had been published by the community of Masaoka Shiki's students , the so-called Negishi-Tanka community , after Shiki's death.
The Araragi magazine was founded in 1908 by Warabi Shin'ichirō , called Kesshin ( 蕨 真 ). But from the following year Itō Sachio took over as the central figure in the editorial office. Saitō Mokichi , Koizumi Chikashi and others took part. From 1914 Shimaki Akahiko played the central role. After his death, the editorship fell to Saitō Mokichi and Tsuchida Bummei . In 1997 the publication of the magazine was stopped.
During the prewar period , the Araragi magazine emanated from one of the mainstreams of Japanese tanka poetry.
