The Neko Harbor is a small bay on the Danco Coast of Graham lands north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 10 km southeast of Beneden Head on the east bank of Andvord Bay .
It was discovered and roughly mapped during the Belgica expedition (1897–1899) under the direction of the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery . The name of the bay is first mentioned in a 1921 publication by Scottish geologist David Ferguson , who explored the area in 1913. It is named after the factory ship Neko of the Norwegian whaling company Salvesen & Co. based in Leith , Scotland , which was in service in this area between 1911 and 1924.
