Nekojiru

Nekojiru ( Japanese ね こ ぢ る ; actually 橋 口 千代 美 Hashiguchi Chiyomi ; born January 19, 1967 , † May 10, 1998 ) was a Japanese manga artist .

The illustrator published her first comic in the June 1990 issue of the avant-garde manga magazine Garo with the first episode of her series Nekojiru Udon ( ね こ ぢ る う ど ん ), on which she worked for Garo until 1994 . This was followed by other works such as Nekojiru Dango ( ね こ ぢ る だ ん ご ), Neko Kami-sama ( ね こ 神 さ ま ) and Jirujiru Nikki ( ぢ る ぢ る 日記 ).

In Nekojiru's works, anthropomorphic , cute drawn cats were always in the foreground. She often combined violence with humor. Some stories were based on the draftswoman's dreams.

She died of suicide on May 10, 1998 at the age of 31 . Due to her death, the artist's attention increased and several new editions of her manga were published. Her husband Hajime Yamano ( 山野 一 Yamano Hajime ), also a manga artist, created sequels to his late wife's comics under the pseudonym Nekojiru-y ( ね こ ぢ る y ).

In 1999, an anime television series consisting of 27 short episodes based on Nekojiru's works, Nekojiru Gekijō ( ね 劇場 ぢ る 劇場 ) was released. 2001 followed by the animation studio JCStaff , about 30-minute short film Nekojiru-sō ( ね こ ぢ る 草 ). The three books on Nekojiru Udon and the band Nekojiru Manjū ( ね こ ぢ る ま ん じ ゅ う ) have been translated into French.
