The main character of the series is the young princess Nella. With the saying “My heart is pure, I want to be a knight now!” She turns into a knight with magical abilities. Together with her talking unicorn Trinket, the knight Garrett and his horse Clod, she experiences various adventures, fights against prejudice and stands up for justice.

Episodes

The animation studio Brown Bag Films announced 40 episodes in the first season and another 40 episodes in a second season. So far (as of January 2019) 21 episodes of the series with two episodes each have been produced.

The American organization Common Sense Media , which judges television series primarily on the basis of educational and child-friendly motifs, awards Nella, the knight princess, five out of five stars. The series is “imaginative” and “fascinating”, and the main character Nella is an “excellent role model for young girls”. The German media magazine Flimmo praises the fact that the series “deviates from the usual princess cliché ” and is especially educational for viewers between three and six years of age. The “straightforward” storylines, the “silly childish jokes” and the happy ending of each episode are also positively highlighted.

In Germany, Nella, the knight princess achieved a market share of 10.6 percent in the target group of 3 to 13 years of age in November 2017, and the series reached 14.8 percent among the 3 to 6 year olds.
