Nemesio Tamayo (born October 25, 1908 in Bilbao ; † 1992 ) was an originally Spanish and later naturalized Chilean former football player on the position of defender , who worked as a coach after his active career .

Life

Tamayo was born in the Basque Country and grew up in Chile after his parents emigrated. At the beginning of his active career, Tamayo played for Audax CS Italiano, among others, and eventually took on Chilean citizenship.

In the 1933/34 season he played for the Mexico City- based Real Club España and won the league championship with him . It was already the eleventh championship title of the Españistas .

In the following season 1934/35 Tamayo completed three games in the Spanish Primera División for his actual home club Athletic Bilbao .

In 1937 he won the first championship title in the history of the Albos with Chile’s most popular club Colo-Colo .

After finishing his active career, he was coach of Club Deportivo Guadalajara in the seasons 1943/44 and 1944/45 .

According to the Spanish Wikipedia (button on the left) Tamayo previously worked as a player- coach at his former club España and immediately before his work for Guadalajara as a selection coach of the Selección Jalisco . Later, the Mexican first division clubs San Sebastián de León and CD Irapuato are said to have counted among his coaching stations.
