characters

  • Nemi is a metal girl who doesn't want to be grown up, sensible or normal, has dropped out of school, adores Alice Cooper and hard music ( heavy and black metal ) and in her unconventional life she moves from job to job, from man to Man, and shimmy from pub to pub. Childlike but sarcastic, chaotic and philosophical, she comments on the world from her very own point of view. Her hallmarks include long black hair, white skin and an uncontrollable passion for chocolate.
  • Cyan is Nemi's best friend. In keeping with her name, her hair is cyan blue. She is much more down to earth than Nemi and goes z. B. after a regular job. She never judges Nemi's antics, but occasionally tries to talk her into her conscience or to bring her back down to earth. She seeks long-term relationships, so she's either dating or single over the course of the comic, but not promiscuous. So far she had two steadfast friends, Tim and Leo.
  • Grim has been Nemi's boyfriend since 2010. With his appearance, Nemi's promiscuous phase ended. He embodies her ideal of a man: muscular, masculine features, long black hair, dressed in black. He endures Nemi's extravagances with stoic calm. Overall, however, its character is flat and not very pronounced. It was only established in February 2015 that he is a firefighter ( Brannkonstabel ) by profession .
  • Ophelia was introduced to the comic relatively new. She is an artist, overweight and has an extremely unhealthy lifestyle - being hinted at and the like. a. Drug use and bulimia. Many sayings are put into her mouth that Nemi is no longer qualified for since their committed relationship and that would not fit Cyan's character. She has various negative traits, v. a. Inadequate self-reflection - she regularly complains about behaviors in other people that she herself also displays.

Content and conception

Most of the strips consist of up to four pictures in which splinters from the curious life of the main character and their surroundings are represented by speech bubbles and drawn actions. Typical is the great variety of topics and genres, ranging from nonsense humor to aphorism-like incidents to romantic observations of nature.

In the original and in the German translation, the action takes place in Oslo, whereas in the English-language edition it has been moved to London.

publication

Nemi-Comics appear in several Norwegian and Swedish newspapers, an English daily newspaper and also in the German music magazine Orkus . A regular comic magazine appears in Norway. In Germany, the Nemi-Comics were published in 2006 and 2008 in two hardcover volumes of approx. 144 pages by UBooks . At first, no further German volumes were planned because the sales figures in Germany were not high enough. In February 2013 Ubooks / U-Line published a third volume under the title "Nemi 3: Nemi wants to know", which contains around 300 comic strips on 137 pages.
