Lise Myhre (born November 1, 1975 in Skedsmo ) is a Norwegian comic artist . Her best-known work is the cartoon Nemi .

Career

After completing a brief graphic design degree at Santa Monica College , California , Lise Myhre began her career drawing CD and T-shirt prints. She also took part in caricature competitions and began contributing to Larson's Gale Verden , the Norwegian version of Gary Larson's magazine The Far Side .

From 1997 Myhre got her own page in Larson's Gale Verden , “Den svarte siden” (German: The Black Side), and this developed into Nemi. From 1999 Nemi appeared in the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet , initially as a guest cartoon and from 2000 regularly. The first Nemi album was released in the summer of 2000 and was a huge success. Since Myhre switched publisher (from Bladkompaniet to Egmont ) in January 2003 , a new Nemi magazine has been published in Norwegian every six weeks ( bokmål ).

With a circulation of more than 70,000 copies, Nemi is now the second most popular cartoon in Norway after “ Pondus ” .

Nemi is published today in around 60 different newspapers, magazines and websites in Norway, Sweden , Finland , England and Scotland . Among these are metro (in England and Scotland), Dagens Nyheter (Sweden), Ilta-Sanomat (Finland) and Dagbladet (Norway).

The bound cartoon “Nemi Volume 1” was published in 2006, translated into German, followed by Volume 2 (2008) and 3 (2013). Volume 4 is only available translated into English.

Lise Myhre has also illustrated poems by Edgar Allan Poe and André Bjerke . She is married to the Norwegian bass player and singer Simen Hestnæs and has one son.
