The Marsh adelidae ( Nemophora metallica ) is a butterfly from the family of adelidae (Adelidae).
features
The forewings shimmer brass-colored and have no markings. The wingspan is 15 to 20 millimeters. The antennae of the females are 1.5 times as long, those of the males three times as long as the wing length.
Way of life
The diurnal moths fly in flowering meadows from June to August. They visit, often in pairs, almost only the forage plants of the caterpillar, namely scabiosa - ( Scabiosa ) or widow's flowers - ( Knautia ) species. The females lay their eggs on these, the caterpillars initially live in the seeds or flowers of the plants, later they drop to the ground, where they build a caterpillar sack from various leaf parts, in which they pupate between May and June.
