Nepenthes macrophylla is a carnivorous plant belonging to the genus pitcher plants ( Nepenthes ). It was originally called Nepenthes edwardsiana ssp. macrophylla described by Johannes Marabini in 1987 . In 1997 Jebb & Cheek raised the subspecies to species status.

description

Nepenthes macrophylla belongs to the section of Nepenthes villosa and N. edwardsiana , i. H. the characteristics are very similar: strongly ribbed peristome (collar), oval lid, wing bar, etc. In nature the plants grow up to 15 m long, whereby the shoots are repeatedly buried in the overgrown moss and form side shoots.

The species grows endemically on Mt. Trus Madi in northern Borneo, 2600 m above sea level .
