Suboccipital nerve

The suboccipital nerve is the posterior branch (ramus dorsalis) of the first spinal nerve . It is purely motoric and supplies the autochthonous back muscles of the deep neck triangle:

It also gives off branches to the semispinalis capitis muscle and the longissimus capitis muscle .
