The New Saratov Bridge crosses the Volga near the village of Pristannoje about 13 km upstream from the city of Saratov in Russia .

The bridge is part of the extensive western bypass SKAD von Saratow and Engels , which was built to relieve the Saratow bridge. The distance between the two nearest motorway junctions is 12.7 km, which is why the often read information stems from the fact that the bridge is 12.7 km long.

description

The four-lane crossing of the Volga consists of two parallel, structurally independent sequences of bridges that are interrupted by dams on the islands.

It begins (from west to east) with the 2350.7 m long main bridge. Because of its height, its abutment is 410 m from the right bank. The main bridge is followed by a dam with a crown length of 364 m, which is followed by a 310 m long bridge over a wetland. Another 394 m long dam is followed by a 667.8 m long bridge over the branch of the Volga. A third dam, 222 m long, was built on a small island. The bridge near Shumeyka on the left bank of the Volga, which leads over a branch and along an indentation, consists of two sections of 304.8 m and 378.8 m (a total of 683.6 m). The bridges are curved in plan, a construction method used in Russia for the first time.

The bridges designed by the Giprotransmost Institute meet the standards for motorway bridges with two lanes in each direction of travel and one hard shoulder . Behind guard rails you have a walkway and bike path.

During the difficult period from 1991 to 2000, the northern bridges were first built, which were used as a two-lane road. In the second phase, the second carriageway was built downstream, which was inaugurated in 2009. Since then, there have been fully-fledged motorway bridges over the Volga for the SKAD bypass.

The main bridge has an orthotropic plate with a steel box girder . The spacing between the pillars is 63 + 73.5 + 84 + 10 × 126 + 3 × 157 + 3 × 126 m.
