New Dresden vocal school

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Neue Dresdner Vokalschule (NDVS) is a project of the German contemporary vocal ensemble AuditivVokal Dresden , which is dedicated to maintaining and making contemporary vocal music available .

profile

As NDVS, the conductor Olaf Katzer understands “primarily a school of interpreters [...]. A very playful term that is supposed to help both the listener and the practitioner in their search for a comprehensibility for what we have tried with AuditivVokal Dresden in recent years. First of all, an idea, a work term for the presentation of our most ostensible work: 'the search for new sounds'. ”The NDVS stands for a networked performance, work and communication practice, in close exchange with composers and artists from a wide variety of disciplines. The starting point was the composition and interpretation workshop of the same name with the singer Sarah Maria Sun , which the Academy of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden and AuditivVokal Dresden jointly organized in 2013. Since then, workshop and mediation projects as well as artistic and scientific vocal research (e.g. with the composer and action artist Alex Nowitz ) have been a central pillar of the work of AuditivVokal Dresden.

In May / June 2017, the Documentation Center on contemporary choral and vocal music creation, Neue Dresdner Vokalschule , was created under the same name in cooperation with the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB). The purpose of this online archive is to make sheet music, audiovisual and other material on works and concerts by AuditivVokal Dresden accessible to interested musicians, composers and musicologists who want to find out more about the work of the ensemble and the compositions themselves.
