The New Synagogue in Velké Meziříčí (German Great Meseritsch ), a town in Okres Žďár nad Sázavou in the Czech Republic , was built in the immediate vicinity of the Old Synagogue from 1868 to 1870 . The derelict synagogue on Novosady Street has been a protected cultural monument since 1999 .

history

The neo-Gothic synagogue was built according to plans by the architect August Prokop (1838–1915).

The synagogue was used until 1940 when it was damaged by the German occupiers. From 1943 it served as a Wehrmacht camp . It continued to be used as a warehouse from the end of World War II until the 1990s.
