The New Jewish Cemetery is a burial place for Jews in the Sauerland town of Meinerzhagen . It is a listed building .

The 1148 m² Jewish cemetery is located above the Catholic cemetery on Heerstraße. There are still 15 tombstones ( mazewot ) on it. There is also a memorial stone for the Jewish citizens of the city who were murdered in the Shoah .

history

The Jewish community acquired the property in 1910 to replace the old cemetery . The cemetery was occupied from late 1913 to 1943. In 1939 it was badly damaged. 22 Russian slave laborers were also buried here during the Second World War . The city of Meinerzhagen had to return the property they had acquired in 1944 to the Jewish Trust Corporation in 1945 .
