i-camp / new theater münchen , i-camp for short and formerly Neues Theater München (NT), today HochX Theater and Live Art, existed from 1993 to 2015 in the Munich district of Au . The premises of the former Kolping Hall in Entenbachstrasse previously served, among other things, as temporary accommodation for the Theater der Jugend (today: Schauburg ). After the new tender in 2015 by the cultural department of the state capital Munich, the house has been operated under new management under the name HochX since January 2016 and reopened in autumn 2016.

Since 2012, the i-camp has also been showing productions with the courage_loading series that deal with current, global topics of the day. On view were productions on current events in Iran, Syria and the Congo, as well as works on the subject of the Arab Revolution, personal surveillance and the relationship between the state and the individual.

Order and implementation

The i-camp functioned as a so-called ensemble-free infrastructure facility for independent theater and dance companies by resolution of the City Council of the City of Munich in 1992. According to this order, the i-camp was primarily available to Munich artists as a performance location and for rehearsal processes. For more than 20 years, the house has guaranteed a continuous and reliable contact point for sponsored and freely organized productions thanks to its fixed infrastructure.
There were also guest performances from the national and international scene, including a. as part of various international festivals in the state capital of Munich, such as DANCE, SPIELART or Rodeo Munich.
From its founding in October 1993 to its dissolution at the end of 2015, around 900 productions, e.g. Sometimes in cooperation or co-production , brought to the stage; in 2014 the world premiere of Schwanengesang .

Porter and management

The house was run by the Theaterverein München e. V., whose board has been responsible for the artistic direction for many years and perpetuated the idea of ​​a supervised, but not curated, place of Munich culture.

Cooperations and engagement

The i-camp entertained u. a. a cooperation with Kulturraum München, a project of the non-profit association Kulturloge München e. V., which provides free tickets for cultural events to people with low incomes. The house maintained a further cooperation with the Munich Student Union , with which it introduced young, theater-savvy audiences to contemporary performing arts. The i-camp was also a signatory to the Munich initiative Art and Culture for Respect and a partner of the muenchenbuehnen.de network.
