Neugrund is an impact crater in Estonia . The point of impact is between the islands of Osmussaar and Krassi saar in the Baltic Sea ( Gulf of Finland ).

The crater is the largest and oldest in Estonia. It was detected in 1998. Its diameter is eight kilometers. The age is estimated at 470 million years, so the impact took place in the Ordovician .

The impact structure is on the ocean floor and is not visible on the surface of the earth.

There are two boulders on the island of Osmussaar , which were probably thrown ashore by the impact of the asteroid.
