history
At the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964, the Tyrolean acoustic engineer Bernhard Weingartner noticed that there were frequent sound failures. The reason for this was the DIN audio connector used in Austrian television , which failed under the weather. Weingartner knew that the XLR connector established by ITT Cannon International / Switchcraft would be much more reliable, but these connectors were very expensive and hardly available in Europe.
Weingartner began in 1974, initially alone, with the development of an inexpensive, yet high-quality version of the XLR connector. Seven months later, the draftsman Werner Bachmann joined the company. Neutrik AG was founded in 1975 by Bernhard Weingartner and the investors Gebhard Sprenger and Josef Gstöhl. The Neutrik company was officially founded and over the next few years rose to become the world market leader in XLR audio connectors. The NEUTRIK connectors were standardized in IEC 61076-2-103 as a stage and studio standard.
In 1987 the speakON loudspeaker connector was developed on the basis of an invention and a patent from Bernhard Weingartner .
In 2000, the Neutrik measurement technology department became the independent NTi Audio AG as a manufacturer of acoustic measurement technology through a management buy-out . Neutrik AG is certified according to ISO 9001 : 2008.

Products
Neutrik AG owns numerous patents and trademark rights . Neutrik developed the collet strain relief for cables , which comprehensively encloses the cable during assembly, holds it against the direction of tensile load and thus prevents it from being torn out. Colloquially, in broadcast and measurement technology, the NEUTRIK brand is a synonym for multi-pin connectors, some with snap-in or bayonet locks. The NEUTRIK product range consists of copper ( speakON , powerCON , powerCON TRUE1, etherCON, mediaCON, silent PLUG), glass connections (opticalCON, DRAGONFLY) and wireless systems (XIRIUM).
Awards
NEUTRIK's opticalCON powerMONITOR won the EMEA + InAVation Award 2011 in the category “Most InAVative Commercial AV Accessory 2011”. The award was presented at Integrated Systems Europe 2011 in Amsterdam.
