New Country

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

New Country is a country music term and describes a direction in this genre that emerged in the mid-1980s.

First of all, it referred to the sound of the New Traditionalists , who, however , were supplanted by artists like Garth Brooks in the late 1980s / early 1990s ; In the mid-1990s, singers such as Dixie Chicks , Faith Hill , Shania Twain , LeAnn Rimes and Lee Ann Womack were the best-known representatives of the genre. In Europe, these artists are often only known in the pop genre, since their releases were brought onto the market without country elements for the European market.

Monumental stage shows, a mixture of traditional country music with pop and rock elements as well as line dances in country discos are typical of this genre.
